Air India CEO Campbell Wilson has announced that the airline will fully restore its international operations by October 1, 2025, after completing comprehensive safety inspections of its Boeing 787 fleet.
The checks follow a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner crash in June, which prompted a self-imposed “Safety Pause” across the fleet. The move allowed Air India to conduct additional technical verifications and reinforce operational protocols.
“I recognise there have been operational challenges in recent weeks that may have affected your travel experience. We take this seriously and are committed to strengthening our internal processes to minimise such inconvenience,” Wilson said.
He added that the airline’s cautious, step-by-step approach was designed to ensure “every verification is completed thoroughly” so that services can resume “with complete confidence.”
The return of full international operations is expected to stabilise Air India’s schedules and re-establish key long-haul routes, bolstering connectivity across major global markets.
